- incident
- Pilot Carl M. and passenger Jimmie Moran on a Lear Jet 23 en route from Houston to Las Vegas saw a flashing red oval luminous object. Object split into 4 similar red oval objects vertically several times, each emitting a 'red ray,' then retracting. Albuquerque radar tracked the object 39 miles ahead with no transponder signal; it blinked off visually then on. A National Airlines DC-8 pilot confirmed the reports. The object darted toward the Lear at high speed, flooded it with intense red light, maintained position, then climbed away to the W in <10 secs.
