The record

Four teenagers in a cornfield near a reservoir observed a large object described as a coil of red and green blinking lights that 'unraveled' into a wavy, segmented structure moving in an undulating, organic manner across the sky toward Hook Mountain. The object was estimated to be at least the size of a football field. It had a single very bright white headlight at the front. It appeared to be composed of separate segments connected by translucent tubes, allowing fluid, organic bending. Each segment was lit by four lights (two on each side) alternately red and green. No metallic surfaces were visible and no windows were detected. The object was completely silent throughout. It moved very slowly toward the mountain, turned toward the witnesses as if about to land in the cornfield, then turned back and departed in the direction it came from. After the object left, the witnesses noticed many small lights swarming very high in the atmosphere described as resembling fireflies or bugs around a streetlamp, which they speculated were scrambling fighter planes. An unusual number of shooting stars was also noted. All dogs in the area were barking, and neighbors appeared to come out of their houses. The next morning a local radio station (WRKL) reportedly broadcast a report of an unusual object over Westchester County. The primary witness subsequently experienced out-of-body projections, unusual dreams involving similar craft and beings, and ability to see auras. No missing time was detected by any of the witnesses.
